Arturel x Massimo Copenhagen

Together with massimo copenhagen, we introduce a new rug collection that brings acoustic thinking to the floor. Rooted in a shared fascination with how materials can shape not only the visual character of a space, but also the way it feels and sounds, the collaboration explores rugs as an integral part of the acoustic interior.

At Arturel, we approach interiors through art and acoustic design, creating pieces that help soften sound while bringing a distinct visual expression to a space. With its deep understanding of natural materials and handcrafted rugs, massimo copenhagen brings expertise in texture, density and softness, adding warmth and tactility to the room.

Bringing these perspectives together revealed a natural meeting point: a collection where material, design and acoustics work as one.

Designing for how a room sounds.

As interiors become increasingly open and multifunctional - from expansive residential spaces to restaurants, hotels and workplaces - acoustics have become an essential part of creating comfortable environments.

Hard surfaces such as stone, glass, concrete and wood can cause sound to reflect throughout a room. Soft materials help counterbalance this, absorbing sound and reducing reverberation. While Arturel has made acoustic performance central to its work, rugs naturally play an important role at floor level.

The collaboration builds on this shared understanding of softness as something functional as well as aesthetic. By introducing textile surfaces across different planes of an interior, acoustic considerations can become part of the overall material composition rather than an element added afterwards.

The result is a collection designed to contribute to spaces that feel warmer, softer and more comfortable – visually, physically and acoustically.

“A rug has always been about much more than what you see on the floor. It changes the feeling of a room – its warmth, its tactility and also the way sound moves within it.

Bold by nature.

Visually, the collection takes cues from the expressive interiors and graphic confidence of the 1970s.

Strong geometries, generous curves and rhythmic patterns meet an earthy yet playful palette, creating rugs with a distinctly bold character. There is a sense of optimism and freedom to the collection: designs that are confident enough to anchor a room without becoming overly serious.

The references to the decade are deliberately loose rather than nostalgic. Instead, its expressive spirit has been translated into a contemporary collection – tactile, architectural and made for today’s interiors.

The result is graphic, playful and expressive, bringing a new energy to massimo copenhagen’s world of rugs while translating Arturel’s graphic language into a new material and scale.
